The New Bremen Barracudas Summer Swim Team is now accepting applications for Head Swim Coach and Assistant Swim Coaches for the 2018 summer swim season.

The Evening Leader covers the St Marys Seahawks swim team all summer long. The only time The Barracudas ever get covered is when we swim against the St Marys team.
That was the case last week, June 29 in our meet against St Marys.
While New Bremen lost the meet, several of our swimmers were mentioned in The Evening Leader’s coverage.

Remember, pictures are tonight at the pool at 5PM.
We had an athlete who can no longer swim this season due to an injury. The family now has a boys size 26 swim suit & a girls size 30 they no longer need. If you are interested in purchasing these, please contact me.
Pictures
Swim & Dive pictures will at 5pm on Wednesday June 7 at the pool. Lange Photographics, will be taking pictures. Picture forms were placed in your folder in the file box at the pool. Lange will also have extra forms available Wednesday night.
Fundraising Cards
Fundraising Cards were also placed in your folder in the file box at the pool. Please return all monies to Tracey (or any other Committee member) by the June 19 deadline. I saved $56.70 using my 2016 card. That was more than my $52.45 savings from my 2015 card. AND I’m in need of a few 2017 cards. So…If you see me, sell me a card or three!
T-Shirts
If you purchased a t-shirt, they are in. Diane will have them available for pick-up during pictures on Wednesday beginning at 5pm
File Box
The file box will be at the pool daily. Have your athlete check it after each practice. Often times there are important reminders placed in your family file. You can even check it during any time that the pool is open. The file box may not be visible on the counter, but any of the lifeguards will allow you access to it, just ask.
Remind
IF you haven’t signed up for Remind yet, I strongly urge you to do so. We use Remind as well as Team Unify to send out important information. Including schedule changes or cancelations due to weather. Last year at the Tecumseh meet, severe weather moved in. Many folks took shelter in their cars where they remained dry. Once the decision was made to cancel the meet, we sent a message notifying everyone of the cancelation.

First Meet
Our first meet is Monday June 12. There are still a few jobs that MUST get filled for that meet. Please sign onto your Team Unify account and sign up to work if you haven’t already done so. It’s easy, just go to the Events page, click on job signup for the event you want. click small box on the open job you want, click on the “sign up” tab at the bottom of the page. A text box will pop up for contact information (I just put my name in there & sometimes cell number), click on the “sign up” tab in the pop up and you’re finished!

Swim Clinic & Judging Clinic
This is a reminder that this Saturday May 6 from 1p-2p is the swim clinic for new & young swimmers to the team. This will be held at the Auglaize/Mercer Family Y South branch in Minister. Coaches will be on hand to asses your swimmer and to answer any questions you may have.
An emergency medical form must be turned in for all clinic participants. You can find that form on both websites under the “Forms” tab in the menu.
Committee member(s) will also be onsite where you can turn in your registration forms, payment, & t-shirt orders, or ask any questions about the summer swim season.
There will also be a short clinic on judging for strokes, & touch/turns. If you would like to touch/turn or stroke judge this summer, please attend this clinic. You will receive enough informal training where you will be able to help out this summer with those jobs.
Job Sign Ups
The Job sign up has been turned on and you may now sign up for your volunteer jobs on the Team Unify (TU) website. There are four home meets this season and we will need everyone to do there part, pitch in and sign up to work the jobs. Remember we do this for the kids, our kids.
Concessions
We also want to make all of you aware that this summer the pool will have a new manager. Stephenie Shieb will be taking over for Molly. As part of that transition, the Village has decided to sell food & drink items from the concessions window during pool hours AND during our swim meets.
This means that we as an organization will no longer be in the concession business. This removes four working positions from our job list. We hope that it will be easier to fill all remaining jobs as a result.
Swim Clinic
Remember, the swim clinic is Saturday May 6 at the Y (Minster/New Bremen location) from 1 pm – 2 pm. This is for swimmers 8 & under and first time swimmers. Coaches will be on hand to assist with stroke development & evaluate your child to determine if they meet the requirements to join the swim team this summer.
Stroke Clinic
At the swim clinic we will also be offering a stroke clinic. We will go over the basics needed for stroke judging & touch turn judging. This is an area that we could use some assistance in. And I really mean it when I say that the judges are in the best spot to see their own children competing in the water. There is a sign up tab on the TU web site. There is a New Bremen Barracudas Swim & Dive Team Parent’s Meeting on Tuesday, April 4th at 7:00pm in the High School Library.
This is your opportunity to meet the coaches, committee members, clinics, practices, meets and other miscellaneous information will be covered at this meeting. You may also turn in registrations, ask questions, offer suggestions. A pre-sign up list for jobs will also be available.

We have meets scheduled June 15 (home), June 20 (away), June 22 (home), June 27 (away), June 29 (home), July 6 (away), & July 13 (away).
A summer swim & dive program can only be successful with the assistance of our parent volunteers.
